A mold is a complex tool specifically designed to produce plastic products through injection molding.
It consists of multiple precisely machined components, usually made from high-quality steel, which together form the product cavity. During the process, molten plastic is injected into this cavity under high pressure.
The mold also includes several important features, such as:
- Gate: where the material enters the mold
- Cooling channels: to control the cooling of the product
- Ejectors: to push the product out of the mold after cooling
After cooling, the mold opens and the product is ejected. The mold then closes again and the cycle repeats. This process can occur more than 500,000 times, making durability and precision essential.
Because the mold has such a significant impact on product quality, it is fully tailored to the product design, material, and production requirements.
